Łukasz Hajac

Abstract

Patient age 56 experiencing abdominal pain and blood in the stool was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumor of distal part of the colon. He was operated on, procedure seemed to be potentially curative. Unfortunately, soon there was recurrence of the disease in pelvis minor; metastasectomy was performed. After some time there was further multiorgan dissemination found, confirmed with somatostatin receptor scintigraphy with tectreotide. Medication with octreotide was applied, with good control of both endocrine function related symptoms and stabilization of metastases. While progression appeared dose of octreotide was escalated and disease still remains under control of this treatment.
