Differential diagnosis of Philadelphia-negative chronic myeloproliferative neoplasms
Hematologia 2010;1(1):59-70.
Abstract
In 2008 World Health Organization (WHO) introduced numerous changes into previously used
classification of chronic myeloproliferative diseases (CMPD); revised name in new classification
is chronic myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). Changes especially concerns Philadelphia-
negative chronic myeloproliferative neoplasms and clonal disorders associated with eosinophilia.
It was possible due to understanding the relation between specific cytogenetic and
molecular aberrations and occurrence of characteristic symptoms of MPN, especially in
patients with polycythaemia vera, essential thrombocythemia, primary myelofibrosis and
myeloproliferative neoplasms associated with eosinophilia.
