Abstract

Rupture of membranes before 37 weeks of pregnancy occurs in 2-3% of all pregnant women and is the leading cause of premature birth. It always significantly complicates the course of pregnancy. The scale of the problem increases with decreasing gestational age. This paper summarizes the current state of knowledge on epidemiology, diagnosis, monitoring, available methods of treatment, and the outcome of this serious complication.
