Ochrobactrum anthropi as an unusual cause of dialysis-associated peritonitis

Abstract

Dialysis peritonitis is a major complication of peritoneal
dialysis therapy. Ochrobactrum anthropi is
considered as atypical for dialysis peritonitis, as well
as for other human infections. The following paper
presents a rare case of dialysis peritonitis caused by
these bacteria. Due to clinical course of refractory
peritonitis and associated therapeutic difficulties,
removal of peritoneal catheter and transfer to hemodialysis
were necessary. Application of different
methods of renal replacement therapy in a patient
with multiple clinical problems is discussed.
