Abstract

Fixed combination of calcipotriol and betamethazon, due to the synergistic activity of two well-known anti-psoriatic substances, ensure high treatment efficacy, independently from psoriasis severity. The fixed combination is characterized by the rapid onset of action, and the significant clinical improvement is observed as early as within the first two weeks of therapy. An important advantage of fixed combination is the convenience of use, as the drug is given once daily and such simple dosing regimen improves patient’s compliance. It should also be underlined a good safety of the combined therapy: betamethazone reduces the risk of skin irritation due to calcipotriol, while calcipotriol reduces epidermal atrophy induced by betamethazone. All above mentioned good properties make the fixed combination the treatment of choice for topical treatment of psoriasis, both on the body, as well as on the scalp.
