Extraneocortical origin of the neocortical neurons
Abstract
Recent studies have showed that although the most of the neocortical neurons are generated in the VZ and SVZ of the dorsal telencephalon, the ganglionic eminences, particularly the lateral ganglionic eminence contribute neurons to the neocortex. Most of these neurons migrate tangentially.
