Radiation overdose during stent-graft placement in aortic type B dissection
Acta Angiologica 2012;18(1):18-22.
Abstract
The study discusses the problem of a high radiation dose during thoracic stent-graft implantation in acute
dissection of the descending aorta. Owing to difficulties in passing a guidewire into the true lumen and the
unfavourable location of the aneurysm, including the left subclavian artery, the endograft had to be positioned
very precisely in order not to cover the left common carotid artery. During this lengthy procedure the patient
received a very high radiation dose, and so radiation-related complications required observation.
