Abstract
Abstrakt: Alcohol ablation of the interventricular septum is a well-established method of treatment in hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM). The extent of ablation-induced iatrogenic infarction is usually assessed by the use of echocardiography. The role of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) in this setting has not yet been well established. In this report we describe five patients with HOCM who underwent alcohol septal ablation and subsequent NMR evaluation. The usefulness of NMR in these patients is discussed and comparison with echocardiographic results is presented.
