Journal of Transfusion Medicine 2015;8(1):12-15.

Abstract

A 28-year old severe haemophilia A patient, with factor VIII inhibitor and advanced haemophilic arthropathy is described. He was subjected to short-term prophylaxis with activated prothrombin complex concentrate (aPCC) in order to enable physiotherapy. After a total of almost 14 months of prophylaxis (mostly within a clinical study) in combination with intensive physiotherapy, a significant clinical improvement was obtained (reduction of joint pain and stiffness, increase in physical activity, return to work).
