Abstract

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), which is characterized by the uncontrolled growth of mature, peripheral B-cells, constitutes a group of heterogeneous diseases in terms of morphological, biological and clinical features. The classification of DLBCL based on the location of the tumor, histopathology, immunophenotype, etiology, and similarity to other diseases of the B lymphocytes. This review presents an update on the molecular abnormalities identified in the major subtypes of the disease, e.g. germinal center B-cell and activated B-cell, and their importance in context of the clinical course of disease.
