Psychooncological care over adolescent and young adult hematological patient
Hematologia 2011;2(1):51-56.
Abstract
In the last decade special attention was devoted to patients whose cancer disease was diagnosed
during adolescence and in young adults (T/AYAs). In virtue of lack of uniform standards, this
group of patients obtains considerably worse effects of treatment. Additionally, during therapy
specific for this group mental needs are not catered for, what impairs quality of life. In this
paper, medical aspects of cancer diagnosis in T/AYAs group were presented, with special
emphasis on psychooncological care that this patients should be taken off.
