Abstract

Training for the patients is widely recognized as one of the important elements of efficient peritoneal dialysis program, but also the one of the biggest challenges, especially that the majority of medical teams have limited expertise to conduct adult education. Recommendations of the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis, including published last year Syllabus, provide general principles and practical tips on how to conduct training in accordance with the concept of therapeutic patient education using the principles of adult education. Its essence is to help patients and their caregivers to become experts in their own peritoneal dialysis care, building the basis for good cooperation with the treatment team and a sense of independence.
