Cardio-vascular complications in peritoneal dialysis patients — selected aspects of the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis guidelines

Abstract

Cardio-vascular complications constitute the major cause of mortality among patients treated with peritoneal dialysis. Effective screening, prevention, treatment of risk factors as well as of the complications themselves have the potential to improve the outcome in this group of patients. In 2015, guidelines by the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis were published, being a set of recommendations and suggestions concerning this issue of renal replacement therapy. The present article aims at presenting the major aspects of this work.
