Janusz Ostrowski, August Heidland, Bolesław Rutkowski
Forum Nefrologiczne 2015;8(4):267-271.

Abstract

The article completes the third year of a series of publications in “Forum Nefrologiczne” on honorary members of the Polish Society of Nephrology (PTN). The seven Polish and four foreign outstanding figures from Germany, the USA and France are now joined by another remarkable scientist and researcher from Germany — Professor Karl Julius Ullrich. This is the first representative of basic sciences that we set to present, yet he is strictly connected with nephrology. The authors of the publication have now been kindly joined by Prof. August Heidland of Würzburg, Germany, also an honorary member of PTN. Professor Karl Julius Ullrich is a former Head of Max Planck Institute of Biophysics in Frankfurt, Germany and a world-famous renal physiologist whose works have marked milestones in the development of nephrology. Prof. Ullrich used to visit Poland where he established cooperation with Prof. Stefan Angielski of the Medical University in Gdańsk and Prof. Tadeusz Orłowski, the doyen of the Polish nephrology, the founder of the Warsaw Institute of Transplantology. The authors intend to continue the series launched three years ago.
