Forum Nefrologiczne 2014;7(3):155-158.

Abstract

Automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) is increasingly being used treatment option in many parts of the world. The greater use of the APD is driven mainly by the flexibility offered by the use of the cyclers in designing dialysis prescription that match patient’s lifestyle. The PD prescription based on the physiology of the peritoneal membrane and permeability characteristics make the potential for personalized and clinically optimal dialysis. In the paper the principles of designing adequate dialysis prescription, and some recently published measures for the optimization are presented.
