Abstract

Infective endocarditis, chronic kidney disease and neoplasms are among the major risk factors that substantially aggravate patients’ prognosis. In the present article a case is reported of a patient withend-stage renal failure treated with peritoneal dialysis, suffering from chronic lymphatic leukemia, who has developed infective endocarditis due to Enterococcus faecalis, complicated by a peritonitis episode. Apart from describing the case, the current knowledge and guidelines on the management of endocarditis and peritonitis caused by this pathogen are presented.
