Alicja E. Grzegorzewska
Forum Nefrologiczne 2012;5(4):297-303.

Abstract

In the review article there is a presentation of blood
parameters, which are important in a diagnosis and
treatment of bone abnormalities in peritoneally dialyzed
(PD) patients. Advantages and disadvantages
of evaluation of bone mineral density using dual
energy X-ray absorptiometry are shown. Types of
renal osteodystrophy are mentioned with a special
attention paid to adynamic bone disease which is
the most frequent type of osteodystrophy in PD patients.
Therapeutic possibilities in mineral bone disease
related to chronic kidney disease and dialysis
treatment are presented.
