Wybrane aspekty epidemiologiczne przewlekłej choroby nerek u dzieci i młodzieży

Abstract

Wyniki badań epidemiologicznych dotyczących przewlekłej choroby nerek (PChN) świadczą o narastaniu liczby chorych wśród dorosłych. Skąpe dane dotyczące PChN w populacji dzieci i młodzieży, szczególnie we wczesnych fazach zaawansowania, utrudniają zarówno ocenę epidemiologiczną, jak i planowanie leczenia nefroprotekcyjnego. Zagadnienie to jest istotne, ponieważ progresja uszkodzenia nerek skutkuje dramatycznym zwiększeniem ryzyka wystąpienia chorób sercowo-naczyniowych niezależnie od wieku. Nowy podział PChN, wprowadzony w 2002 roku przez National Kidney Foundation, objął również dzieci i młodzież, jednak odmienności funkcji nerek, szczególnie u najmłodszych, utrudniają jego stosowanie.
