Abstract
Autosomalnie dominująca wielotorbielowatość nerek
(ADPKD) jest najczęstszą chorobą genetyczną
nerek i jedną z najczęstszych chorób dziedzicznych
w ogóle. Jest także schorzeniem, które bardzo
długo istnieje w świadomości ludzkiej (było
znane już w starożytności), a najsłynniejszy opis
przypadku dotyczy polskiego króla Stefana Batorego.
Mimo wielowiekowej "tradycji"Z najistotniejszy
dla rozwoju wiedzy o chorobie był przełom lat
80. i 90. ubiegłego wieku. W tamtym czasie nie
tylko dokonano odkryć i opisano geny odpowiedzialne za rozwój ADPKD, ale także usystematyzowano
objawy kliniczne choroby. Niestety, pojawiło
się także wiele mniej lub bardziej istotnych błędów,
które na stałe zagościły w podręcznikach.
Niniejszy artykuł nie jest pracą poglądową w ścisłym
tego słowa znaczeniu - tych jest w polskim
i zagranicznym piśmiennictwie sporo. Jest to raczej
próba polemiki z kilkoma mitami, którymi obrosła
autosomalnie dominująca wielotorbielowatość
nerek.
