Journal follows editorial recommendations of International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) (available at http://www.icmje.org/recommendations/).

Submission of manuscripts

Authors are required to pay an Author Preparation Charge (APC) when a submitted paper is accepted for publication. The cost is 800 EUR (+ taxes) or 400 (+ taxes) EUR for members of the Polish Anatomical Society (first or corresponding author).

After accepting the article to be published by Editor-in-Chief, the author will be obliged to complete the payment which will make the publication process able to complete.

In case of the manuscript withdraw after the acceptance for publication the fee will not be returned.

All costs concerning bank transfer are covered by the author.

Materials submitted into the letters section remain free of charge.

All articles should be submitted to Folia Morphologica electronically online at https://journals.viamedica.pl/folia_morphologica where detailed instruction regarding submission process will be provided.

Legal aspects
In sending the manuscript the author(s) confirm(s) that (s)he has (they have) not previously submitted it to another journal (exept for abstracts of no more than 400 words) or published it elsewhere. The author(s) also agree(s), if and when the manuscript is accepted for publication, to automatic and free transfer of copyright to the Publisher allowing for the publication and distribution of the material submitted in all available forms and fields of exploitation. A transfer of copyright is an element of Author's Statement form that should be signed by the corresponding author and uploaded into the manuscript system at the time of manuscript submission.

The author(s) accept(s) that the manuscript will not be published elsewhere in any language without the written consent of the copyright holder, i.e. the Publisher. All manuscripts submitted should be accompanied by Author Statement including signed confirmation of the above and confirming that this publication has been approved by all co-authors (if any), as well as (if required) by the responsible authorities at the institution where the work has been carried out. Additionally, the author(s) confirm(s) that (s)he is (they are) familiar with and will observe the 'Instruction to Authors' included in 'Folia Morphologica' and also that all sources of financial support have been fully disclosed. Materials previously published should be accompanied by written consent for reprinting from the relevant Publishers. In the case of photographs of identifiable persons, their written consent should also be provided. Any potential conflict of interest will be dealt with by the local court specific to the Publisher. Legal relations between the Publisher and the author(s) are in accordance with Polish law and with international conventions binding on Poland. Anonymous review

All manuscripts will be subject to a process of anonymous editorial review (the name of authors and their affiliations will be disclosed to the referees only when the review process is complete). In order to achieve this, the first page and the acknowledgements page will be removed from the manuscripts sent to referees.

Authorship
All collaborators who have made significant and substantial contributions to a study are considered coauthors. The nature and level of contribution of all authors of accepted manuscripts must be indicated, i.e. conception, design, execution and interpretation of the data being published, wrote the paper. An author may list more than one contribution, and more than one author may have contributed to the same aspect of the work. Other contributions to the work, such as providing of reagents or analytic tools, should be listed in the Acknowledgements. Ghostwriting and guest-authorship are forbidden. In case of detecting ghost written manuscripts, actions will be taken involving both the submitting authors and the participants involved.

Preparation of manuscripts

Articles must be written in English, with either British spelling used consistently throughout. Authors not entirely familiar with English usage are advised to seek the assistance of an English speaker; correct style is the responsibility of the authors.

- The length of original article should not exceed 20 printed pages including text, illustrations, tables, and references. 
- The main text of the manuscript should be written in a standard PC-compatible word processing program (e.g., Microsoft Word) using Times New Roman font size 12, double-spaced throughout and submit as .doc/.docx or .rtf file. The text must be provided unjustified and auto-hyphenation must be inactivated. Greek and other special characters may be used only by inserting in the text as ″Symbol″ (and not by using ″symbol″ font which may be lost during subsequent file processing. It is advised not to underline in the text and avoid footnotes. When essential, footnotes are numbered consecutively and typed at the foot of the appropriate page. All dimensions and measurements must be specified in the metric system. Particular attention needs to be paid to the selection of appropriate analysis of data and the results of statistical test should be incorporated in the results section. Abbreviations, if used, should be defined in brackets on their first appearance in the text (separately in the abstract and in the main text).
- The first page of each paper should indicate: the author's name, title and running head of the paper, the institute where the work was conducted (not in capital letters); complete name and address for correspondence with telephone and e-mail address; running head not exceed 40 characters including space.
- The second page contains the abstract. Every abstract should be written in an informative style. Avoid generalizations and give essential details of research findings. The abstract should be comprehensive but concise consisting of no more than 250 words and should be structured into four paragraphs in original articles: Background, Materials and methods, Results, Conclusions. In review articles, it should be undivided. The abstract should be followed by a list of 3-10 carefully chosen keywords.
- The textual material of the article should be organized in a standard form with separate: Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, and References. Review articles should be divided into sections and subsections as appropriate without numbering. The desired position of figures and tables should be indicated in the text.
- Do not underline in the text. Avoid footnotes. When essential, they are numbered consecutively and typed at the foot of the appropriate page.
- All dimensions and measurements must be specified in the metric system.
- The source of any drug and special reagent should be identified.
- Particular attention needs to be paid to the selection of appropriate analysis of data and the results of statistical test should be incorporated in the results section.
- The nomenclature used should conform to the current edition of the Nomina Anatomica, Nomina Anatomica Veterinaria or to the Nomina Anatomica. Avium, Eponyms (e.g., Fallopian tube, Eustachian tube) should not be used.
- Acknowledgements should be made in a separate sheet following Conclusions and before References. The authors may wish to express their thanks to those who contributed to the work but could not be co-authors of the manuscript. Sources of any support for the work in the form of grants, equipment, or drugs presented in the article should be listed as funding. All sources of funding of the work have been fully disclosed.

- Legends of figures should be typed on separate sheet.
- Tables (numbered in Arabic numerals) and illustrations (numbered in Arabic numerals) should be prepared on separate sheets.
- The editor reserves the right to make corrections.
Tables
- Tables require a brief but descriptive heading.
- The major divisions of the table should be indicated by horizontal rules.
- Explanatory matter should be included in footnotes, indicated in the body of the table in order of their appearance.
- Tables must not duplicate material in the text or in illustration.
Illustrations
- The desired position of the figures and tables should be indicated in the text.
- The maximum figure size is 84 mm or 174 mm for use in a single or double column width, respectively.
- When possible, group several illustrations on one block for reproduction, and also prepared on a separate sheet. Like all other figures, block should be prepared within a rectangular frame to fit within a single or double column width of 84 and 174 mm, respectively, and a maximum page height of 226 mm.
- Each figure should include scale magnification bar; do not use magnification factors in the figure legends.
- All figures, whether photographs, graphs or diagrams, should be numbered consecutively throughout.
- Only good drawings and original photographs can be accepted; negatives, photocopies or xerocopies cannot be used.

References
The list of references (written on a separate sheet) should include only those publications that are cited in the text. Avoid citation of academic books, manuals and atlases. References may be arranged alphabetically and numbered consecutively. Numbers in square brackets should give citation of literature references in the text at the appropriate places. The recommended style for references is Vancouver. References should be written as follows: 
Journal papers: initials and names of first three authors following et al., full title of paper, journal abbreviation (according to Index Medicus), year of publication, volume (in Arabic numerals), first and last page (example below):

Please note, that references students’ atlases and textbooks commonly used in didactics should not be cited.
Reference to articles that are accepted for publication may be cited as "in press", whereas manuscripts that are still in preparation or submitted for publication should be referred to as "unpublished data".

This journal should be cited in lists as Folia Morphol.

Proofs

Authors should keep a copy of their article, as proofs will be sent to them without the manuscript. Corrections to the proofs should be restricted to printer's errors only; other alterations will be charged to the authors. In order to maintain rapid publication, proofs should be returned within 48 hours after receipt, by e-mail. If the Publisher receives no response from the authors after 48 hours, it will be assumed that there are no errors to correct and the article will be published.

Ethical consideration
Papers describing animal experiments can be accepted for publication only if the experiment conforms to the legal requirements in Poland and EU Directive 2010/63/EU of the European Parliament and the Cuncil of 22 September 2010 as well as the requirement of National Research Council 2011 “Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals: Eighth Edition. Washington, DC: The National Academies Press (https://doi.org/10.17226/12910)”. Authors must provide a full description of their anesthetics and surgical procedures. Papers describing experiments on human subjects must include a statement that experiments were performed with the understanding and consent of each subject, with the approval of the appropriate local ethics committee.

If the submission uses cadaveric tissue, please acknowledge the donors in an acknowledgement at the end of the paper.

• Nonhuman artificial intelligence, language models, machine learning, or similar technologies do not qualify for authorship. If such models or tools are used to create content or assist with manuscript preparation or writing, authors must take responsibility for the integrity of the content, especially that is has been generated without violating copyright law or rules of academic writing, in particular plagiarism-related ones.
