Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a serious epidemiological, social and economical health care problem. The polish type 1 diabetes population is estimated about 250 000 and over 2 mln type 2 diabetes patients (level of the prevalence of diabetes mellitus in a polish population was defined on 5.37%). The results of this analysis emphasize large economic burden of diabetes mellitus therapy on health care system in Poland.
