Nadciśnienie tętnicze 2002;6(4):239-242.

Abstract

The results of open multicenter trial of betaxolol - the longacting cardioselective beta-blocking drug - in the treatment of arterial hypertension are presented. The trial included 410 patients from 25 centers, with mild to moderate essential hypertension, aged 21-65 years. The treatment lasted 14 weeks with four control visits; in all periods of therapy the highly significant decrease of systolic and diastolic blood pressure as well as pulse rate were observed. The drug was well tolerated; only in 6,3% of patients treatment had to be stopped because of side effects. The place of betaxolol in comparison with other beta-blocking drugs is discussed.
