Abstract

The research on different clinical aspects of catecholamines carried out during 40 years in one academic medical institution is reviewed. The role of catecholamines in the pathogenesis of essential hypertension and some forms of secondary hypertension is discussed. Moreover, the significance of catecholamines in the pathophysiology of congestive heart failure and myocardial infarction is underlined.
