The role of adipocyte products in progress of insulin resistance in obese and hypertensive patients
Nadciśnienie tętnicze 2004;8(1):33-40.
Abstract
Hypertension and obesity are very important medical and social problems. On the basis of experimental and clinical studies strong relationship between obesity and hypertension
has been confirmed. Insulin resistance plays a fundamental role in complex pathogenesis of obesity related
hypertension.
In the view of recent studies adipose tissue should be treated as endocrine organ producing many active substances. It is postulated that some of them (tumor necrosis factor α, leptin, adiponectin, resistin, interleukin-6) can play potential role in the mechanism leading to insulin resistance.
Better understanding of pathomechanism leading to the development of insulin resistance could contribute to improvement of therapeutic process.
